Seven Must Have Garden Tools
Gardening is a very nice hobby. It helps you release stress and at the same time is very fulfilling. But you can't just buy some seeds and plant them. You have to be well prepared to keep your garden in tip-top shape. Here are some tools that can help you maintain your garden.
1. The Garden Shovel – This particular tool is one of the most basic tools in gardening. This is what novices usually use when they go out and get their gardening legs. This shovel fits right in your hand and is what you basically need to dig up some holes in strategic places to plant your seeds. You would not want to be doing it bare handed as you might scrape your nails on some stones which would be really bad.
2. Gardening Gloves – You can't work on a garden without gardening gloves. Other than keeping your hands clean, the gloves help you keep a firm grip on your tools and on plants you have to move around. Also, the gloves will keep you from getting cuts from your tools or other sharp objects like thorns.
3. The Garden Hoe – This is usually used if you plan to plant vegetables. It's used to scrape the top of the ground, which leaves some grooves. It can also make little holes so that you can plant your seeds. Other than that, it also has different functions. You can use a hoe to hack up the weeds and help you when you need to harvest your crops.
4. The Shears – You can use this to cut your grass. It's like a big pair of scissors which covers a lot of area. The reason why this particular tool would be helpful in gardening is because if you leave your grass uncut, it will grow really long. When grass is really long, it invites a whole lot of pests to live in it. But that's not all. If your grass gets long, it would be real hard for you to work on your garden because you won't be able to see much. You can't go walking on tall grass because you never know what you might step on so shearing your grass with shears is a must.
5. The Rake – This nifty tool helps you with cleaning up the dead leaves littered around your garden. You just go around your garden, as if you were sweeping your floor and just pile up the leaves so that you can put them in a waste basket or something. This will make your gardening a lot easier and it beats picking up the leaves one by one.
6. The Wheelbarrow – This particular tool will save you from a whole lot of back breaking work. You can put all your tools in and easily transport these to a spot you're working on. Other than that, you can use it to transport soil, rocks, pots or plants.
7. The Hose – Now you can't keep bringing a bucket with you to sprinkle water all over your garden now, can you? Having a garden hose would really save you the trouble of hauling that bucket of water.
These are just some of the basic tools you need to get your garden in gear. Just remember to be ever vigilant in tending to your garden and you'll be just fine.
