Three Things About Plants That Every Garden Owner Needs To Know
Plants, like people, have certain needs. We need several things to survive like food, water and even our friends and family. Plants are not really that much different than we are. And being the higher life forms that we are, it is important that we do what we can so that plants will be able to grow to its fullest.
If you are a proud owner of a blooming garden, there are several things you need to know about plants so you can have peace of mind ensuring that nothing bad is going to happen to it like your plants withering or anything like that. Here are a couple of things you can do to keep that garden of yours blooming as it should.
1. Make sure your plants receive an adequate amount of sunlight.
If there is anything you can remember about grade school science, it is this thing about plants that scientists call photosynthesis. Well technically, this is the process that plants undergo to make their food.
Plants utilize sunlight in order to synthesize food out of carbon dioxide and water; a pretty nifty trick wouldn't you say? Aside from being a really, really awesome ability, this is sadly the only way that plants can create their food. So it is our job to make sure that they get enough sunlight so they can survive and grow the best that they can.
It is just like with us you know, we don't grow as much if we don't eat right. We might not be able to reach our full potential when it comes to height and other things as well. If you don't really believe in all this, here is something you can do. Buy two identical types of plants and put one in a place that gets hit by sunlight while the other in a dim spot. Check back after a couple of months and look which of the two look better.
2. After that healthy dose of sunlight, wet those parched leaves and roots with some water.
If you have not noticed yourself just yet, it was mentioned earlier that plants need carbon dioxide and water synthesized with sunlight to make some food. Carbon dioxide is easy for plants to obtain, what isn't though is water, especially if you don't expect some rain to come anytime soon.
So in your garden, make sure that you get to water every part and parcel so that your plants would be able to make their food. Think about it; how would you feel if you did not have water for a day? You would most certainly feel dehydrated. Plants get dehydrated too and hungry as well at the same time.
3. Check if there are any weeds growing around your plant.
Weeds are plants that compete with cultivated plants for sustenance. In other words, these things are bloodsucking leeches that steal your plants nutrition. If left unchecked, these weeds might cause the death of a plant or its stunted growth.
