Five Planting Tips For A Healthier Garden

What makes up a garden? In reality there are various types of gardens; there's the vegetable garden, fruit garden and many more. But if we're going to talk about the typical garden found in various homes then most likely we will find a lot of things there.

What you will usually find in a garden are different types of flowers, shrubs and grass. It is really hard to imagine a garden without the flowers. It is seemingly embedded in our minds that for a garden to be a “garden”, flowers must be found all over it. Gardening may sound easy but mind you there are still things to follow or keep in mind. One of those many things is the tips about planting flowers and shrubs.

1. Site preparation. This is really important since before you can start planting in your garden you must first have a site. Choose an area in your house or lawn. It can be your front yard or backyard but if you want people to see your garden then the front yard would be the best choice. Before you plant anything on the area remove everything like weeds and other vegetation. You should also prepare the soil like adding some fertilizers and breaking it.

2. Type of flower. Before you go buy all the flowers and stuff them onto your lawn it would be best if you think about which type of flower you prefer. There are different kinds of flowers such as the annuals; these are flowers that germinate, bloom and die in one year or in simpler terms these are flowers or plants that live for only one season in a year. The biennials are plants that take about two years for it to fully mature and bloom. The perennials are plants that thrive beyond two years and some gardeners prefer this because these types of plant are more convenient as compared to the others.

3. Spacing. Do not forget to properly space each plant. Spacing will allow each plant or flower to grow without competing for nutrients or water. It will also provide enough space for each plant's root system to spread naturally. With each plant well spaced they will then be able to grow fully. Plants that compete for food and water will end up stunted. So if you want your flowers to reach their full bloom then space them properly.

4. Arrange flowers and shrubs in a straight row. With this type of arrangement your plants will look more organized plus you will also be able to emphasize their beauty. Arranging shrubs in a straight row can form a hedge and provide privacy. It is an artistic form of the fence.

5. Digging. Basically you will have to put your flowers and shrubs onto the ground and in order to do that you will have to dig a hole. For shrubs you can dig a hole deep enough so that the top part is close to touching the ground when you put it inside the hole. It should also be wide enough around six to eight inches; this will allow the roots to expand and grow. For flowers, the holes don't have to be too deep as the roots are rather small.

There is more to planting than stuffing seedlings and stems unto the ground. The planting tips or guidelines briefly discussed above will surely help you have a beautiful and blooming garden.
