Seven Tips To Maintaining Your Garden
Gardeners are usually the ones who do the maintaining. Those who can afford hire gardeners while those who prefer to be practical do the maintaining themselves. Garden maintenance is really not that hard. In fact you don't have to be an expert to do such. All you need is a handful of basic steps and tips and then you'll be on your way.
1. Watering. Do not forget this. Your plants need water too. It would be best if you water your plants once in a while or depending on the weather. If you live in a hot and sunny location then you will have to water your plants twice in a day like in the morning and late in the afternoon or in the evening. If you live in an area where the sun doesn't shine that much or if the weather is cloudy then you can water your plants once. Take time when you water each plant allowing water to seep deep into the ground and into the roots.
2. Pruning and trimming. Grass can grow wild and become unsightly so you will have to trim it. You can cut either by using a mower or the cutter. If you have trees in the garden then you will have to cut some of its branches too. We all know that trees keep on branching out and although you cannot stop this process you can control it by trimming some of the branches off. Trimming the trees will keep them from overshadowing the other plants in your garden. It would also look good if you trim your shrubs into a particular shape; this will add more flare to your garden layout.
3. Fertilizing. Adding fertilizers to your plants will help them grow better and in the case of flowers it will help them bloom more and at a faster rate. When using fertilizers do not forget to read the package especially the how to use manual. You can use the organic fertilizers, the chemical fertilizers and other various types. Just remember not to use too much of it on your plants.
4. Soil Ph. Periodically check your soil's ph. Different plants thrive in soils with varying ph. There are plants that grow better on a slightly acidic soil while others thrive on a slightly basic soil. Whatever soil requirements your plants require, periodic checking of the ph will help you do the necessary adjustments.
5. Tilling. Tilling is not only done to prepare the soil for planting you can also till the soil around the stem of the plant. When tilling, be careful not to hit the roots and other parts of your plants. Till around the plant.
6. Weeds. No matter how well you cleaned your plot before you planted anything on it there are still times when weeds grow alongside your plants. Do not leave the weeds alone; instead carefully uproot them. Keep the weeds out of your plant so that it will not compete with your plants' growth.
7. Dried leaves. You don't have to burn dried leaves; instead you can pile them up and turn it into compost. Dried leaves are unsightly to look at especially if you leave it alone on your lawn. When the dried leaves have been composted then you can use as fertilizer.
Keep your garden beautiful by properly maintaining it. Maintaining your garden is simple; all you have to do is follow the tips mentioned above.
